This all got started way back around 1987.

I was a 6th grader who'd just moved from Fort Bridger, Wyoming to Bellevue, Washington. A geographic move of only about 900 miles, but 100 times that in every other way. Dropping me into the heart of the Cascade and Olympic ranges was how my dad helped us get comfortable in our new home state and come to love it. His old issues of Backpacker and Outside as well as (and especially) the Chouinard Equipment and later Patagonia catalogs became my inspiration— a visual and aspirational foundation—that set the stage for what I do today in my capacity as a climber, illustrator, photographer, creative director, father, and husband.

So... let's make something interesting, yeah?
